Volunteer at Fulton Manor

Family Promise has over 2,600 amazing volunteers helping 365 days a year to support families with children facing a housing crisis!

Volunteers of any age are always welcomed and appreciated at Family Promise! Family Promise helps over 1000 people a year, and it would not be possible without each and every one of our valuable volunteers.

We have many ways for individuals, groups, families, congregations and businesses to become involved – age, skill and availability don’t matter – we will find the perfect fit!

Exciting ways you can get involved!

Day Center: Help around our office by keeping our space clean for our families and kids, assembling various craft projects and thank you projects, donation organizing, data entry, etc.

Family Promise Ambassador: We are looking for volunteers to help us spread our mission of ending homelessness, one family at a time throughout our community by speaking at local organizations, schools, community events, etc.

Furniture Delivery: Help make our families houses into homes! We accept furniture donations from our community and then volunteers use our pick up truck to bring furniture items to our families once they’ve moved home.

Host a Drive: Get your office, school, church group, etc. involved by hosting a basic needs drive for our families and kids!

IHN Evening Volunteer: Support our families who are staying in shelter through our Interfaith Hospitality Network program! As an evening volunteer, you can make a meal or play with our kiddos at our host congregations.

IHN Overnight Host: Support our families who are staying in shelter through our Interfaith Hospitality Network program! As an overnight host, you will stay overnight at one of our partnering host congregations to make sure our families are supported.

Kids Korner: We typically have infants and toddlers in the program that would love to be held or played with any day during the week!

Partners in Housing: Help rehab one of our manufactured houses to make it a beautiful & affordable home for our families! Jobs might include painting, small demo jobs, yard work, trash removal, hanging blinds, cleaning and such.

These are just a few of the many tasks that our volunteers assist with as we work to help families facing a housing crisis in Kent County/Grand Rapids. Individual volunteers as well as group volunteers can get involved on a one-time, monthly, weekly, or even daily basis!

Some of the many groups who have volunteered in the past include:

  • Youth groups
  • Families
  • Church groups
  • Organizational groups
  • School classrooms
  • College groups
