THE NEED

We are on the cusp, of what some call, an epidemic. Kent county has over 3,000 homeless school aged children; this number doesn’t account for our little ones ages 0-5 years old. The recession hit our families the hardest with a 300% increase in the amount of homeless families in Grand Rapids. With some many families in need of help we need we had to do something.

Our current day center is too small for our staff and families, lacks privacy, a respite room an outdoor place space for kids, parking and handicap accessibility. Today, we assist nearly 40 families, but there continues to be a large amount of family emergency and housings needs not being net. We need to increase our program capacity.

We are meeting a large need in our Grand Rapids community, but to continue we need to make sure we can remain healthy both programmatically and financially. For the first time in Family Promise’s history we launched a three year Capital Campaign.

OUR SOLUTION

Our capital campaign, A Journey Home, will raise $2 million so Family Promise of Grand Rapids can:

Relocate Day Center
Moving to 516 Cherry will double the space where families receive emergency assistance, rehousing and Aftercare services.

Expand Programming
This will allow us to double the number of families we serve through our Partners in Housing program, emergency support, case management and Aftercare services.

Build a Reserve Fund
Create a reserve fund will allow us to support unforeseen building expenses and ensure long-term sustainability for the future.

CAMPAIGN BUDGET

Our capital campaign, A Journey Home, will raise $2 million to help:
