How the Program Works
- Multiple Shelter Locations: Family Promise operates over 48 rooms of family shelter across Kent County, offering safe, welcoming spaces for families and children.
- Essential Support: Families have access to meals, laundry facilities, and daily essentials to meet their immediate needs.
- Personalized Case Management: Dedicated case managers work with each family to create a plan for housing stability, connecting them with community support and financial resources.
- Path to Permanent Housing: Every family receives guidance and encouragement to reach long-term goals — so their stay in shelter is temporary, but their progress lasts.
What Families Receive:
Family Promise of West Michigan is a community-driven nonprofit helping families overcome housing crises with dignity and compassion. We prevent homelessness, provide emergency shelter, and help families build a future filled with stability and hope.

- Healthy Development: Support for physical, cognitive, and emotional growth, ensuring kids continue to thrive even in times of housing instability.
